Book Review: A Collection of Secrets by Brook Peterson

I think at this point, we all know that I am a sucker for a well done setting, and that is usually what seals the deal for me falling in love with a book. Jericho Falls is amazing and of course I continued to fall in love with that beautifully small town.

However, in this case, it was our main character, Chloe, who really stole the show and sealed the deal for me on this book. I loved her in the first novel, but Collection of Secrets really stuck out to me, and Chloe was a star. And the main reason she stole the show was the fact that she wasn’t perfect. She sometimes said the wrong thing, she tripped, she made mistakes, and I loved it. It made her feel so real and I could relate to her so much more than most heroines. Despite her imperfections, she was kind, loving, and brilliant, so it made sense why she was able to develop so many wonderful friendships within the town and it really made the book pop.

I will always love a book that has an overarching mystery, I love being able to connect who characters used to be with who they are presently. Being able to see a character’s emotional connection to the case helps me connect as well. It was interesting to watch Chloe as she faced her past with the help of the Poisoned Pen Book Club. I obviously need to find more book clubs, because that is absolutely the kind of support and positivity that I need in my life (without the crime, please). I am hoping to see more of all the book club characters in the next book!

This is such a wonderful cozy mystery series and I would highly recommend checking it out!
